The guidelines below are for both the Runing Race 'runners' and the Walking race 'Walkers'

Lanes 1, 2 and 3 are for the runners even when they are walking.  

Lanes 4, 5 and 6 are for the walkers.  

Please stay in the designated lanes assigned to your event.

1. Always run on the inside of  lane 1 if your pace is relative to other runners.  Or walk in lane 4 for the walking race. If a runner or walker is coming from behind do not try to make room for them on the inside. Trying  to predict an unexpected movement is a waste of energy. It is far better  to let an athlete overtake you.
2. Leave room for other runners  to pass in the outside of lane 1, not all the way in lane 2.  Or walkers to pass in the outside of lane 4.
3. To overtake always move to  the outside of the lane.
4. Runners taking an extended break from running or have slowed relative the rest of the field, please use the outside of lane 2  or inside of lane 3.  Walkers that have slowed please move to the outside of lane 5 or inside of lane 6
5. If you are moving out a lane to overtake, take aid or use the toilet, always check that you will not cut off another runner or walker by doing so.
6. Do NOT run on the white line on the INSIDE of the track.  or walk on the white line in lane 4 for the walking race. This is out of bounds.
7. Do not step off the track on the inside. The exception being for the 24 hour running race on the home straight where the feed stations are.  This area will be clearly marked.
8. The direction of the race will turn every 4 hours.
9. If you leave the track

• Let the Referees know   you are leaving the track.
• Leave on the outside or within the marked area in the feed stations and never close to the timing mat.
• Return to where you left the track to continue.
